The leadership, faculty and students of the Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University (QyzPU) proudly welcomed QyzPU student Yasmina Toksanbayeva at Almaty Airport after her participation in the 20th Asian Summer Games, held in Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya, Japan, where she represented Kazakhstan on the international stage.

Yasmina Toksanbayeva, a 21-year-old second-year student in the “Physical Education and Sports” degree programme, competed in the 42.195-kilometre marathon race walk and recorded a time of 3 hours, 22 minutes and 20 seconds, crossing the finish line first.

According to the preliminary results, Yasmina’s performance was officially recorded and initially counted as Kazakhstan’s ninth gold medal at the Games. However, following a protest submitted after the competition, her result was reviewed and subsequently removed from the official results.

Despite this development, Yasmina’s skill, determination and fighting spirit demonstrated at the competition mark an important milestone in her sporting career. Her performance is particularly significant given that the marathon race walk was included in the Asian Games programme for the first time. Her achievement therefore represents a notable moment in the history of Kazakh athletics.

The QyzPU community congratulated the young athlete on her impressive performance on the international stage and expressed its full support. University leadership, faculty members and students welcomed Yasmina at the airport with flowers, expressing their gratitude and appreciation for her courage, dedication and perseverance.

Yasmina’s determination and strength of character are an inspiring example for QyzPU students. Her commitment to representing Kazakhstan with honour on the international stage is a source of great pride for our entire university community.
