The Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University (QyzPU) held an informational and educational event titled “Earthquake Prevention and the Formation of a Safety Culture,” organized by the Department of Personality Development in collaboration with the Civil Defense and Life Safety Office.
The purpose of the event was to enhance students’ knowledge of safety rules during natural disasters — particularly earthquakes — and to develop practical skills for responding effectively in emergency situations.
During the session, specialists explained what actions should be taken during an earthquake and provided detailed safety recommendations. Participants were also shown the evacuation procedures from university buildings and informed about designated assembly points.
According to the experts, “It is impossible to predict an earthquake, but we can reduce its consequences. Knowing safety rules and applying them in practice is the key to saving lives.”
The university administration places great emphasis on fostering a culture of disaster prevention and regularly conducts seismic safety drills. Such initiatives help students and staff act appropriately in emergencies and remain prepared for potential natural disasters.
The awareness campaign on earthquake prevention and safety measures will continue from October 29 to 31. This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11 – ‘Sustainable Cities and Communities.’
