The Institute of Philology and the Department of Kazakh Literature at the Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University (QyzPU) have launched a thematic week titled “Abai and the Modern Intellectual Space,” dedicated to the spiritual legacy of the great thinker and educator Abai Kunanbayev in the context of contemporary society.

The purpose of the event is to reinterpret Abai’s creative and philosophical heritage from new perspectives, as well as to foster young people’s interest in national values, quality education, and spiritual development.

The official opening took place on November 5 and was attended by well-known scholars and representatives of the intellectual community. Erkyn Dusipov, Vice-Rector for Infrastructure Development of the university, wished the participants a productive and successful week.

During the event, Doctors of Philology and Professors Dandai Iskak, Kanseit Abdezuly, Almasbek Maulenov, Serikkazy Korabayev, writer Kuandyk Tumenbai, and Zhumash Kenebai, Honored Figure of Kazakhstan and poet, shared their reflections on the continuity between Abai’s teachings and modern literature within the discussion platform “Exchange of Opinions.”

In addition, the new book by Professor Kanseit Abdezuly, titled “Abai zhane Taken” (Abai and Taken), was presented during the event.

“Abai is our greatest national treasure. His wisdom, prose, and poetry are the priceless heritage of the Kazakh people. For the 180th anniversary of the great poet, I have prepared the book ‘Abai zhane Taken’. Today we are presenting it to a wide audience. The publication will be distributed to students, faculty members, and the university library. During this week, we will discuss ways to popularize Abai’s legacy among young people and hold lectures dedicated to his works. I am confident the event will be a success,” — said Doctor of Philology, Professor Kanseit Abdezuly.

The program of the week includes:

  • November 6 – open lectures by leading literary scholars;
  • November 7 – a literary and musical evening titled “Bilektei arkasynda orgen bury’m” featuring student performances.

Throughout the week, students and young researchers will showcase their creative potential and gain a deeper understanding of the rich legacy of the great Abai.
