On November 6, 2025, the Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University hosted a meeting with representatives of the British Council. The event was held within the framework of the project “Accelerating English Language Learning in Central Asia” (AELLCA), aimed at improving the quality of English language teacher education.

The meeting was attended by Professor Simon Borg and Project Coordinator Nursulu Suleimenova from the British Council, as well as by faculty members of the Department of Professional Training of Foreign Language Teachers of the Faculty of Philology, fourth-year students undertaking their teaching practice, and teachers from partner schools — Gymnasium No. 15, Secondary School No. 102, Zaman Elite Kazakh School, and School-Gymnasium No. 176 in Almaty.

The AELLCA project is implemented with the support of the UK Home Office and covers five Central Asian countries — Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Its goal is to enhance the system of English language teacher training across the region.

During the meeting, participants discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the university and schools, increase the effectiveness of teaching practice, and align educational standards and curricula. The representatives of the British Council noted that, based on the data collected from universities and schools, a roadmap will be developed to improve teaching practice and the professional development of educators.

This event became an important step in strengthening the international cooperation of the Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University and deepening its academic partnership with the British Council.
