On November 18, 2025, the Institute of Physics, Mathematics and Digital Technologies, together with the Department of Mathematics, organized the OIQ (Oy + IQ) intellectual competition for first-year students of the “Mathematics” educational program (IP).
The main goal of the event was not only to develop students’ logical thinking and intellectual potential, but also to widely promote among young people the strategic tasks related to artificial intelligence and digitalization outlined in the Address of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as well as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The intellectual competition consisted of five stages:
• BrainCells – intellectual quiz
• Smart Portraits – creating portraits of mathematicians using puzzles
• Tanym tartysy – questions and answers
• Mathematical Arena – mathematics relay
• Homework – exploring the Sustainable Development Goals using artificial intelligence
Four teams participated in the competition: Infinity, Smart, Genius, Logic Legends. Each team was assigned a specific Sustainable Development Goal:
• Infinity – Gender Equality (SDG 5)
• Smart – Quality Education (SDG 4)
• Genius – Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12)
• Logic Legends – Climate Action (SDG 13)
During the competition, students tested their knowledge in mathematics, logic and general erudition, and demonstrated their teamwork skills. The OIQ format contributed to the development of creative thinking, analytical abilities, and practical skills in applying modern digital technologies. At the conclusion of the event, participants were awarded prizes.
OIQ – 2025 is an important educational initiative aimed at broadening the intellectual horizons of young mathematicians and preparing a new generation of specialists capable of contributing to the sustainable development of the country.
