A large-scale methodological seminar was held at the Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University for faculty members supervising students’ graduation projects. The event brought together more than 150 educators and experts for an in-depth exploration of the Lesson Study methodology.

QyzPU is the first and so far the only university in Kazakhstan to officially implement the Lesson Study method as a full-fledged format for graduation theses. This format has been used at the university for three consecutive years. During this time, the institution has created a unique scientific and practical foundation and has moved from the experimental stage toward the systematic improvement of education quality.

The main goal of the seminar was to strengthen the requirements for academic supervisors and to deepen the research component of graduation projects. Priority was given to updating teachers’ methodological tools in accordance with modern pedagogical standards.

The intensive program covered the full cycle of the research process under the guidance of academic supervisors. The speakers — Vice-Rector for Social Development and Student Affairs Yerkin Zhumankulova, Nazarbayev Intellectual School teacher Elzira Torgaeva, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Kulzada Kudaibergenova, and PhD Elzira Kyrbasova — provided a professional analysis of the key stages of the work.

During the seminar, particular attention was paid to aspects of the method that are challenging for students: professional lesson observation, maintaining a research journal and reflection, as well as the algorithm for implementing changes in teaching practice based on collected data.

Through this event, the university highlighted its strategic commitment to transforming teacher education through practice-oriented research. Following the seminar, academic supervisors plan to apply updated work protocols in preparing bachelor’s students during the current academic year.
