On November 20, a literary meeting with elements of discussion titled “From Reading to Thought, From Thought to Life” was held in the conference hall of the Seraly Kaniyev Scientific Library. The event focused on discussing a book and promoting reading culture.
Participants of the meeting included Kazbek Raisov, Master of Science at the Institute of Social and Humanitarian Sciences and Arts; Yerdayulet Tulegenov, PhD and Acting Associate Professor at the Institute of Natural Sciences; and Akberdi Tansholpan, press secretary of the “Orleu” professional development center and journalist-editor. Students and library staff were also present. The meeting was moderated by the chief librarian, Ayaulym Nesipbay, who ensured a structured and well-organized discussion.
The main goal of the event was to strengthen reading culture among young people, increase interest in literature, and cultivate life values through the works they read.
During the meeting, participants were presented with video materials, infographics, and articles through an information platform, followed by a discussion on relevant issues concerning modern reading culture. A short survey and interactive activity were conducted to assess young people’s attitudes toward books today.
The central part of the event focused on the book “Ozbekali and the Cultural Front” by writer Sanzhar Kerimbay. Participants shared their reflections and impressions of the work. To maintain a dynamic discussion, an interactive activity titled “Successful Question” was held, along with mini-debates where attendees analyzed the book’s ideas and content from different perspectives.
At the end of the meeting, the library director, Asem Otegenova, thanked the guests and active participants, presented letters of appreciation, and emphasized the importance of such events for the intellectual development of youth.
The literary meeting contributed to the development of critical thinking, the deepening of spiritual and cultural values, and the ability to connect what is read with real life. The event became a platform for open exchange of ideas, inspiring young readers to apply their newly gained knowledge in practice.
