From November 24 to December 24, 2025, within the framework of the Visiting Professors program, Professor Dr. Necmi Uyanik of Selçuk University conducted a seminar-lecture titled “The Formation of European Civilization” for students of the Department of History at the Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University.

The main objective of the seminar was to introduce students to the historical foundations of European civilization and to demonstrate the influence of Ancient Greece and Rome, Christian traditions, medieval culture, the Renaissance, and the Enlightenment on the development of Europe. In addition, during the lecture, students examined the role of modern Western European legal systems, state institutions, and the formation of a new humanistic worldview based on historical evidence.

During the seminar, students enhanced their research and analytical skills and became acquainted with the historical origins of key values and ideas shaping contemporary European society and culture.

As a result of the seminar, students were able to identify the main sources of European civilization, including the influence of Greece, Rome, Christianity, and Germanic-Celtic culture; understand the significance of the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Enlightenment, and the Industrial Revolution in the formation of civilization; identify the historical roots of rationalism, the rule of law, human rights, and the scientific worldview; and draw their own conclusions about the impact of European civilization on the modern world. The seminar contributed to broadening students’ historical horizons, deepening their cultural and historical knowledge, and developing their skills in presenting well-reasoned arguments.
