The collection of Kazakhstan’s massive open online courses has been enriched with a new, high-quality educational offering. The online course “Criterion-Based Assessment in Primary Education” has been launched on the Coursera platform. It was developed by Roza Nabuova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences and Associate Professor of the Department of Pedagogy and Methods of Primary Education at the Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University.
The course is aimed at a comprehensive study of the theoretical foundations, principles, and structural stages of the modern criterion-based assessment system, as well as at mastering effective ways of implementing it in the educational process.
A distinctive feature of the program is its strong emphasis on developing learners’ skills in critical analysis, re-evaluating their own assessment approaches, comparing them with pedagogical experience, and identifying directions for further professional development.
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to enhance the quality of the educational process through the effective use of criterion-based assessment, ensure transparent, objective, and fair evaluation of learning outcomes, and foster a culture of assessment among students.
This course will serve as a valuable educational and methodological resource for both future and practicing teachers who seek to gain an in-depth understanding of the modern criterion-based assessment system from a scientific and practical perspective.
