On December 17, 2024, at the Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University, a final seminar marking the conclusion of a series of lectures and seminars was held at the initiative of the Institute of Philology and the Department of Foreign Language Teaching Methodology and Intercultural Communication. The series was conducted by Associate Professor, PhD of the Department of Turkish Language at Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, Osman Kabadayı.
The final seminar was devoted to the topic “Key Aspects of Publishing Scientific Articles in Indexed Databases.” The event concluded Professor Osman Kabadayı’s academic visit to QyzPU, which took place from November 19 to December 19, 2025.
During his academic visit, Professor Osman Kabadayı actively participated in the work of the Department of Foreign Language Teaching Methodology and Intercultural Communication, demonstrating a high level of professional competence. He conducted practical classes in a second foreign language for students of the educational program “Foreign Languages (IP),” providing them with the opportunity to work in an authentic language environment.
The seminars and practical classes were held in an interactive format using modern teaching methodologies, which contributed to deepening students’ theoretical knowledge and developing their practical skills.
The final seminar was attended by the Director of the Institute of Philology, Aigul Satbekova, members of the university’s faculty, master’s students, and doctoral students.
As part of the event, the requirements for publishing scientific articles in international academic databases (Scopus, Web of Science, etc.), principles of academic integrity, criteria for selecting scientific journals, and the most common authors’ mistakes were discussed in detail.
Addressing the participants, Osman Kabadayı emphasized that when publishing in international indexed journals, the key factors are the quality and relevance of the research, its scientific novelty, the correctness of the methods used, and adherence to academic style. He also highlighted the importance of developing academic writing not only in foreign languages but also in one’s native language.
“For publication in international indexed journals, a scientific article must be well prepared, relevant, and original, and the methods used must be clearly justified. Today, English is widely used in the academic community; however, the development of scientific publications in the native language is also of great importance. I was pleased with the students’ activity and engagement. In the future, within the framework of interuniversity agreements, academic exchanges will continue. We also plan to implement joint projects with colleagues,” the professor noted.
First-year master’s student of the educational program “Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages,” Uldamet Azhenova, emphasized the practical value of the seminar:
“Today’s seminar significantly contributed to the development of my scientific writing skills. I gained valuable international experience. I believe that such events provide master’s students with great opportunities for professional growth,” she said.
Another first-year master’s student of the same program, Shyryn Daurenovna, also shared her impressions:
“To write a high-quality scientific article, it is important to clearly define the research question, problem, relevance, and research methods. The professor shared his experience and provided useful recommendations. I would like to thank the university and the professor for the opportunity to gain high-quality knowledge,” she noted.
