February 26, 2026 – The Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University hosted a pivotal workshop dedicated to the implementation of international educational standards. During the session, university experts and faculty members discussed the intricacies of developing dual-degree programs (DDP).
In the first part of the workshop, participants familiarized themselves with the regulatory and legal frameworks of dual-degree education and conducted an in-depth study of international standards for transnational education. The meeting was opened by Assel K. Imanbalina, Head of the Academic Quality Assurance Department, and Saltanat T. Dzhakubaeva, Head of the International Cooperation Department. They elaborated on the concept and strategic significance of DDPs within the modern internationalization strategy. New mechanisms for forming international partnerships were presented, aimed at enhancing the university's global competitiveness.
The primary focus of the workshop was on transnational education standards. Participants conducted a thorough analysis of the legal status of programs, specifically distinguishing between "dual-degree tracks" and "academic mobility" (pathway) models. In this context, diploma recognition and the protection of students' rights were set as top priorities.
Maria O. Kabysheva, Director of the Department for Academic Program Development and Quality Assurance, and Aliya A. Zdakhanova, Head of the Center for Internationalization of Educational Programs, shared the experience of joint postgraduate education with the University of Sussex. They explained methods for coordinating curricula and credits within international partnerships. The experts emphasized that clear and measurable Learning Outcomes are the primary requirement for the international recognition of any program.
During the practical phase, participants compared curricula from various universities, worked on credit conversion according to the ECTS system, and identified subject correspondences. As a result of this work, faculty members prepared the initial drafts of new educational projects integrated with foreign partner programs.
This event not only enhanced the professional qualifications of the university's teaching staff but also marked a concrete step toward providing our students with the opportunity to earn world-class dual degrees.
