It is well known that Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has identified fostering a culture of reading among the youth as a strategic priority. The President has emphasized that " reading books is the surest way to build a progressive nation," and that libraries are the "essential memory of the state and the nation." Accordingly, the "Reading Nation" project is being implemented across the country to modernize libraries, introduce digital resources, and elevate reading culture to a new level.
In line with these initiatives and in honor of National Book Day on the twenty-third of April, QyzPU hosted an educational interview session titled "The Kazakh Girl: Mirror of the Nation." The event, organized by the Seraly Kaniev Scientific Library, featured a profound discussion with historian, PhD, and founder of the "MURA Intellectual School," Almas Toksanbayev.
The primary goal of the event was to cultivate a reading culture among the youth, illustrate the historical image of the Kazakh girl based on book data, and create a platform for the free exchange of ideas to promote national values.
During the meeting, Duman Zhekenov, Advisor to the Chair of the Board – Rector, spoke on the continuity between books and national upbringing:
"The book is the source of spiritual perfection. The Kazakh girl is the pride of the nation and the foundation of its upbringing. Our students must learn their history through books and grow into wise individuals who preserve their national identity. Such spiritual encounters increase young people's enthusiasm for reading and strengthen our values," noted Duman Kurmangazyuly.
Historian Almas Toksanbayev analyzed the role of mothers and women in the Great Steppe from a deep historical perspective, using specific examples to describe the importance of women in preserving the national identity. The topics discussed during the meeting provided an impetus for the spiritual development of the youth and increased their interest in national values.
