Today, the Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University hosted the closing ceremony of “Month of Science – 2025,” a month-long initiative dedicated to promoting scientific activity. The event brought together faculty and students of the university and honored researchers and organizers who achieved outstanding scientific results.
Running from April 3 to May 5, Month of Science included over 50 events such as scientific conferences, hands-on workshops, poster sessions, debates, startup presentations, and roundtables. More than 500 students and around 300 faculty members participated in activities aimed at developing research skills among students and early-career researchers while encouraging academic exchange and collaboration. This month served as a powerful bridge between science and education, strengthening the university’s academic culture, enhancing research potential, and connecting generations through shared intellectual pursuits.
During the closing ceremony, Chair of the Board – Rector Gulmira Qanay highlighted the university’s systematic efforts to promote science and awarded faculty members actively engaged in research. Special recognition was given to educators who received letters of appreciation from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Additionally, directors of institutes, faculty members, and young researchers who demonstrated exceptional scientific engagement were honored in the following categories:
- “Kóshbasshy ǵalym” (Leading Scientist)
- “Hirsh úzdigi” (Top H-index Performer)
- “For Applied Results and Commercialization”
- “Belsendi zhas ǵalym” (Active Young Scientist)
- “Studenttik ǵylymdy damytushy” (Developer of Student Science)
Faculty members recognized for their scientific achievements received monetary awards to support participation in scientific conferences, article publication, and laboratory rentals. Award amounts ranged from 150,000 to 250,000 KZT.
Based on the scientific performance results of 2024, the top-performing institutes and departments were also recognized:
- Among Institutes:
1st place – Institute of Physics, Mathematics, and Digital Technologies
2nd place – Institute of Natural Sciences
3rd place – Institute of Social and Humanitarian Sciences and Art - Among Departments:
1st place – Department of Computer Science
2nd place – Departments of Physics and Biology (tied)
3rd place – Departments of Chemistry, History, and Theory and Methods of the Kazakh Language
Three institutes also received awards based on their “Scientific Impact Index” – calculated by dividing the number of citations from Scopus and Web of Science publications over the past five years by the number of faculty members:
3rd place – Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology
2nd place – Institute of Physics, Mathematics, and Digital Technologies
1st place – Institute of Natural SciencesThe ceremony concluded with a festive artistic performance and a group photo to commemorate the event. While “Month of Science – 2025” has officially ended, the spirit of discovery and innovation continues to thrive.
