On September 23, QyzPU held a literary and musical evening titled "Uly dala tilegi" (The Wish of the Great Steppe), dedicated to the 50th anniversary of renowned poet, educator, literary scholar, and Candidate of Philological Sciences Serikzat Duisengazy.
The main aim of the event was to revive the traditional direction of Kazakh literature, promote poetry and spiritual values among the younger generation, and honor the poet’s contributions to science and the arts.
The evening opened with a choreographic performance titled “Tribute to Abai” by the “Tomiris” dance ensemble, which immediately captivated the audience. The hosts of the evening shared the life and creative journey of the poet, officially launching the celebration.
Chairman of the Board and Acting Rector of QyzPU, Sabit Suatay, gave a welcome speech, highlighting Serikzat Duisengazy’s significant contributions to the development of Kazakh literature and pedagogical education.
Honored guests of the evening included composer Erkin Tokseitov, poet Askhat Suindikov, and singer Saken Maigaziyev, a soloist of the group “MuzArt.” The rector presented them with commemorative gifts and jubilee medals.
As part of the program, songs based on the poet’s verses were performed. A highlight was the “Aidai” group’s moving rendition of the song “Qazagym.”
Members of the university’s literary club “Nazkónyr” delivered expressive readings of Serikzat Duisengazy’s poems, touching the hearts of the audience. Additionally, a dramatic performance titled “A Mother’s Love”—based on the poet’s works on motherhood—was staged.
Special attention was given to literary sketches, including “Olenmen orilgen – 50 zhyl” (Woven in Verse – 50 Years), as well as a theatrical mini-scene in which the poet appeared to be engaged in a poetic dialogue with himself. The evening concluded with students reciting their own poems dedicated to the honoree.
In the climactic moment of the evening, Serikzat Duisengazy himself took the stage. He read some of his most beloved poems, shared personal memories, and answered students’ questions, reflecting on his literary journey, educational path, spiritual search, and sources of inspiration.
At the end of the evening, renowned singer Saken Maigaziyev expressed his gratitude to the university team:
“The Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University is not just an educational institution for girls — it is a place where a whole nation is nurtured. We were deeply impressed by the performances, poetry readings, creativity, and knowledge of your students. QyzPU is a unique institution combining both pedagogical and artistic directions. May your girls be happy!” he noted.
The literary and musical evening “Uly dala tilegi” was more than just a jubilee celebration. It became a profound cultural and educational event, aimed at strengthening young people’s interest in national literature, poetry, and spiritual values.
Intellectuals, faculty, and students who attended the evening had a valuable opportunity to connect with the poet’s creative legacy and once again feel the educational and spiritual power of Kazakh poetry.
